Question: I have a 9 year old daughter who suffered from Sleep Apnea and hearing problems during her first 2 years of her life. She underwent a tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, and had several ear tube replacements every year up until she was 8 years old which stopped the Sleep Apnea. She received occupational therapy, physical therapy, and social therapy which helped until she reached kindergarten.
Now, she has the most unusual sleeping positions. Mostly sitting without falling or tipping over. Other positions include sleeping on her knees, on her back from her normal position to the opposite side of her bed, etc.She seems to be rested in the morning and sleeps normally around 9 hours nightly. However, at times, she could be a bit hyper and has difficulty focusing. She does not use ear tubes anymore.I’m not sure if these constant changes of sleeping positions throughout the night affect how she sleeps or not, but sometimes it makes me wonder. I also have a 13 year old daughter that had the same procedures done, however, she does not change positions like my youngest does.Is this something I should be concerned about? If it is what can I do to help her?
