Question: When our son was a baby, he had to be held and walked around every night in order to fall asleep. He might have had some colic or gastrointenstinal issues, but this happened every night. And even then, he might wake up and hour or so later for more holding and walking.
Now he’s a toddler and resists sleep with all his might. He’s clearly overtired, so it’s often hard for him to fall asleep. When he does finally fall asleep (after many tantrums and negotiations), he often wakes up once or twice in the middle of the night and demands that his father snuggle with him to help him get back to sleep. His father does this, and everyone wakes up exhausted the next morning. What can we do??
