Question: I have a 5 year old daughter who has slept with me from birth up until January 2015. She’s always had her own room but we still co-slept, even then she would wake up screaming and/or crying when I wasn’t in bed with her, sometimes even if I was in bed with her.
She’s been sleeping in her own room and bed since January, since my boyfriend and I moved into a new house together. Some nights she sleeps just fine, no crying or screaming. Most nights she falls asleep about 9:30pm, no TV is ever on, and by 11:30pm/12am is her typical first wake up. It’ll just be yelling my name until I go into her room, or actual crying. When I do go in her room she’ll say she’s itching, her nose feels stuffy, she sees bugs, her lips are dry..etc. Every time it’s a different reason as to why she’s yelling.I try comforting her, letting her know there’s no bugs, we blow her nose, drink water…do anything to make her comfortable. She has no bites or red marks (itching is something fairly new that started about 2-3 months ago), she has a humidifier in her room, tissue next to her bed as well as chapstick so that she’s able to fix some of her “issues” without yelling. Even with those things right next to her she still yells my name until I come in her room, or cries. She just doesn’t sleep well, she doesn’t have a bed wetting issue, and we typically don’t eat late. It’s so frustrating when we’re all just extremely tired all day every day. I really don’t know what to do anymore. I can tell her to quit crying it’s okay, stop yelling, kiss her, tuck her back in and as soon as I lay back down she’s yelling my name or yelling for help. I truly don’t know what to do anymore and I’m starting to get frustrated with her. I don’t understand why or what is wrong but I want to fix it…
