Question: My daughter is a typical energetic 7 year old. She has enough energy for several kids, she has trouble focusing, and gets bored easily when she isn’t challenged.
My daughter was diagnosed with ADHD in 2013 but we never put her on medication because the doctor said she didn’t need it. My daughter suffers with PTSD from child abuse and those night terrors ended long ago. My child has recently slept on the floor beside my bed just to feel assured. Not often just once a month or less. Based on her grouchy morning behavior and excessive energy all day long I figured it was time to Google things. Last night my daughter woke up 6-8 times full rested and waking me up because she was “done” sleeping. Based on my knowledge now I am betting that she has had this sleep problem for years and I missed the signs. I assumed she just woke up early and started her day with playing. Now I believe she has been playing in the middle of the night because she just can’t sleep. She has a strict and regular bed routine. Bath, book, cuddles, then I leave the room and she puts herself to sleep within 15 minutes and she is out like a light by 8:45pm. What can I do to help her stay asleep?
