Question: Hi, I am a 20 year old college student. Ever since I was young I have been sleep talking and walking. As I got older the sleep walking stopped but I still sleep talk multiple times a week.
When I was young I had a sleep diary and I would record myself at night. I often found that if something was on my mind I would usually sleep talk about that. But I have found that I basically sleep talk every night from roommates, it’s not usually full words which is nice but I do feel bad for my roommates. It is also super awkward to have to tell people that if I make noises or moans just ignore me that’s normal. I rarely have full conversation but when I do they are full out words in sentences which is really strange especially if people know what I am talking about. Also recently my volume of sleep talking has gone up, occasionally I wake my own self up which is terrifying.I feel bad for my roommates and I actively try and manage my sleep talking. I try and get enough sleep, not eating or drinking before I sleep, and even changing sleeping positions. Luckily my boyfriend is a really heavy sleeper so I never wake him up with my sleep talking, but the occasional times I wake myself up from my sleep talking it usually wakes him. I hope anyone has some advice.
