Question: When I was about 8 years old my family went on a rafting/camping trip along the Grand Canyon. One night we stopped and set up camp on a small “beach” at the floor of the canyon that happened to be placed along some moderate rapids. That night I had my first sleepwalking episode.
I don’t remember the sleepwalking itself (though later episodes I do remember), but I woke up when I cut my foot very badly on the rocks about 10 ft from the rushing rapids. I remember trying to find my way back to the camp, but I was so disoriented that I just stopped and cried loudly until my parents found me.The rest of the night they insisted on my sleeping in between them. And, according to my mom, I told her in my sleep later that night that I had been trying to reach the opposite ledge of the canyon.I continued to sleep walk through high school, but it stopped when I went to college.
