Question: Hi, I am a 21 year old female. My first experience of sleep paralysis was at the age of 16 when I was in boarding school. Unlike most people this usually occurs during the day mostly between 11am to 4pm. For my first experience I was asleep in a dorm room but the people around me were not sleeping at the time they were chatting, I thought I was awake for a few seconds but then my friend came over and tried to talk to me but according to her I did not respond even though I was looking at her but little did she know that I could see she was there but I couldn’t move or say anything to her.
I didn’t pay much attention to it because it was a terrible experience and I just wanted to pretend it never happened. it didn’t happen so much during my teens but now it’s maybe twice or thrice in a week, it lasts a few minutes or seconds but always feels like longer.I have only seen a shadow like figure once and a witch like laughter on another occasion. My hallucinations usually involve me waking up from the SP and even walking to the kitchen or looking through the window just to realise I am still in SP. There are also times when my mum walks in the room to wake me up but when I am actually awake I realise she is at work.I know these are hallucinations but I have to say there extremely realistic in the sense that if I am playing music before I sleep then I wake up in SP I can listen or even sing along to the song playing and when I am fully awake it will be the song I am listening to still playing. I can also see what’s around me perfectly so I know my eyes are never closed. I have noticed it now happens even though I am sleeping with someone else in the bed. The SP happens frequently that now I can tell if I will have SP before I sleep because I get a hot flashs and a weird feeling. I wake myself up by praying, shouting Jesus repetitively or trying my whole to move.I have simply had enough and its more annoying than scary now so if anyone has a cure or suggestion of a cure religious or scientific I will be more than ecstatic to try it.
