Question: This may well be the strangest dream I have ever experienced. It should be noted that I was doing homework at my desk at the time, and at some point I must have fallen asleep. In fact, it may have been the point at which a gaping hole opened up in the middle of my desk, swallowing up my chemistry book. Disgruntled, I stepped through the hole to try to recover my book, and instead I found myself being levitated through a tunnel towards an unknown destination. Before I could fully ask myself what was happening, I plodded to the ground in what appeared to be a zoo. It was a very strange zoo, however, because there were hoards of people stuck inside cages, while no animals were to be seen. I walked around these strange exhibits, once in a while recognizing a few people in the crowd I in which I now found myself. Strangely, as soon as I had identified someone I knew, their face would shift shape, and I would suddenly be staring at someone with three pairs of eyes or three-and-a-half ears.
When I had come to the end of the zoo, I saw a construction crane and felt an urge to climb it. Once on top, I found that I could move the crane, whose base consisted of huge flamingo legs. I had to be careful not to trample over buildings and cars, but it got easier when the scenery changed to small trees and farmland. I saw a silo without a roof and abandoned the crane to parachute down into it. It was filled with licorice. I’m not particularly fond of licorice, so I put on the scuba gear that had materialized next to me and dove down into the dark, gooey substance. Incidentally, I found my chem book towards the bottom of the silo, and I tried to pick it up. It was stuck. I tugged harder, and suddenly the book popped up, a hole opened up underneath it, and I was sucked into the vortex that carried me through another tunnel and spewed me out at my desk, where I awoke. The dream had seamlessly carried me from wake to sleep to wake again, and I literally had to verify that there wasn’t a hole concealed somewhere in my desk.
