Question: I’ve been sleepwalking since early childhood (1950s). My mother didn’t realize I was sleepwalking when I was a child. She shook my shoulders when I didn’t respond. I screamed until I woke up. It was horrible.
She brought me to our small-town only doctor, an MD and family physician. He told Mom to guide me to the kitchen sink. She said, “get a cup of water and drink it.” I woke up every time. Used the bathroom, went back to bed. Slept soundly the rest of the night.Mom trained me to wake up by drinking a glass of water.I think my lucid dreams contribute to my sleepwalking.I still wake myself up by drinking water.
