Question: Hi, I have always talked in my sleep ever since I was little. I am now 25, almost 26. Friends and ex partners have always found it funny and I do too, upon hearing about them. On a few occasions I do remember it after prompting. It has never normally bothered me. It does happen most, if not every, night.
My fiance is a light sleeper and he hears almost all of my talking. He told me it was quite funny and we found an app where I can record myself. I started doing this and on a few occasions, it was quite funny. But the majority of my recordings are stressful to hear back. Almost all of my sleep talk is made of noises that sound as if I am in distress. I almost always cry or shout out for help. In some incidents, I have just repeatedly asked/cried for help. In a lot of them, I repeatedly say ‘stop’. And in some, I seem to be asking friends to wait for me. The odd funny ones are great – but I actually get quite upset to think I am having dreams like these and it’s upsetting to hear myself in such an emotional, stressful state when I remember none of it.What does this mean?
