Question: I’m 20 years old, and I’ve been known to sleep talk/sleep walk when I was a child. For about ten years I was fine with no episodes (my sleep walking was so bad I left my house and walked to the highway with my dad in tow) and would play hide and seek with my pillows only to wake up asleep on top of the dryer.
As I said, for about ten years all was well, until about January. I haven’t sleepwalked but my sleep talking is an almost every night occurance. I’ve researched sleep talking and it all says that the sleeper is unaware of their speaking – but I am very much aware. I know when I’m talking but it’s like I can’t stop it. I try to stop talking but it’s like my brain and my mouth are completely separate. I wake my husband up every night and I’m starting to feel the effects of ‘waking up’ every night from it. Any thoughts?
