Question: I punch, kick, yell and talk in my sleep. My boyfriend often leaves the room and sleeps on the couch because he can’t take the beating and the yelling anymore. A couple times I have woken myself up because I felt pain from kicking him, my toe hurt! Why are his shins so darn hard? He really should think about how I feel, lol… OK, I’m sorry, I have no guilt over it, I think it is funny.
I am usually fighting in a dream when I act out like that. I always dream and they are usually crazy stuff where I am a “hero” and need to take out a bad guy, or protect people from something bad or just trying to get away from something bad. I figure this is due to the type of books I read, television shows and movies I watch. This inner warrior is engrained into my psyche. Sword fighting, magic quests, apocalyptic destruction, alien invasion, monsters the size of buildings, vampires and werewolves. In dreams I have magic, I am a trained fighter, sharp shooter, can fly, I float, I can jump off tall buildings and land without harm. I can grow fangs and claws at will.When I yell or talk during sleep, I am having something that is more of an emotional dream. Last night I dreamt that our cats got outside and a hawk had gotten the kitten. The hawk was on the ground picking at a pile of bloody flesh that was still moving. I broke the hawks neck with my hands and it was terrible, because I love birds. All I could make out of the kitten was a generic shape, it was skinned, had no teeth left, couldn’t make a sound, but was trying to move and the only sound that could be heard was from a raw hole of flesh where its mouth was, opening and closing. I screamed for my boyfriend, I screamed for my Mom, please help, call the vet, I yelled the cats name, I wailed in emotional pain… in my dream. But I know I was yelling for real too. I could just feel like I was. When I woke, my boyfriend confirmed that yes I had been yelling a LOT. He could hear me from other parts of the house… because, he had moved to the couch again!I know why I had that dream. Our cats have fleas really bad and have missing fur and red patches where they have scratched. I feel guilty and am afraid they are going to die. The kitten is white and so her red skin was really bad the other night and I had this dream…. guess who is getting more flea medicine as soon as I can???
