Question: I have a 3 year old daughter who has been fighting sleep since birth. Her two main issues are calming her body down to fall asleep and waking too early in the morning. This affects her whole day.
She began sleeping through the night when we let her cry it out at 6 months. Believe me I tried anything and everything to avoid this but she did not sleep in our bed and could not be rocked to sleep. Pushing a stroller all night long was not an option. Very little seemed to comfort her as an infant. My worry is as a 3 year old she still often cries at bedtime and does anything and everything to avoid it (down to meltdowns from being so tired). No matter what she hates to sleep. How do I re-teach her that sleeping is a pleasant experience? I prefer not to lay next to her to fall asleep but will help her at night (night wakings have re-emerged at age 3).We have done a sleep study that did not find anything sigificant although it was noted that when she woke during the night she had difficult falling back asleep (it took over an hour). She had also been diagnosed with sensory processing disorder. I am so worried about her lack of sleep and how it affects her life. The pediatrician never takes me seriously. I don’t know where to turn?
