Question: It’s not that I don’t get enough sleep, it’s that I’ve never been able to fall asleep, stay asleep, or wake up properly.
On a good night I fall asleep after roughly three hours of lying in bed doing nothing, but that’s on a good night. On a bad night I might not fall asleep until the next morning, or sometimes just not at all. If I don’t have my alarm set for the next day I will always wake up at twelve-ish. However I tend to have very restless sleep and I am never satisfied with my sleep. I can’t take sleep medication because it makes me wake up five to seven times throughout the night and each time it’s harder to fall back to sleep. If I take pain medication before bed for a headache or cramps I always get nightmares. It doesn’t have to be a specific brand of medication, it just happens with any I take, same goes for the sleeping pills. Did I mention I hallucinate? My sleeping problems are so bad that I tend to see figures and faces in the dark of my room, even when I know it’s not that. It creeps me out and makes it even harder to sleep. When I mentioned above that I’ve never slept well, I wasn’t lying, even as a baby I didn’t sleep well and I was a living nightmare for my mom. I’m sure this is chronic Insomnia, but I’ve had it for a very long time. I’m 20.
