Question: My daughter is 5 and has occasionally had problems sleep walking in confusion while she should be on the way to the toilet. She used to simply wet the bed. I explained many times that she needs to learn to wake up when she feels like urinating and get to a toilet.
The first night it happened was quite shocking. She walked out of her room with her eyes open and began walking back and forth, and back and forth while crying loudly. I asked her what was the matter, did she need to pee? She actually walked over to my small trash can and peed in it while she stared right at me. I was still trying to talk to her.The next day I learned that she did not remember any of it. It has happened many times since. Sometimes I don’t make it in time and she pees on the floor. Now I don’t try to talk to her when she comes out crying. I just guide her to the toilet so she can relieve herself. She goes right back to bed.Now it has been a while since she did this and I am hoping that she is going to outgrow it. However, I have been wondering about other sleep disorders she may have like sleep apnea or mild delayed sleep patterns. Now she is in school and I might as well be waking up a bear because she immediately starts fighting me.
