Question: I had never experienced an episode of sleep paralysis until I had my first child. After the birth, it started in the hospital. After about a week or two, it stopped. After the birth of my second child, it came back. This time, it started again in the hospital and continued for almost a month.
Each time this happened, it scare the heck out of me! I couldn’t move, couldn’t breathe, and the entire time, I felt like something bad was waiting just right out of sight, on the other side of the door or hallway, just waiting to hurt me. Upon the birth of my third son, I knew it was coming, and tried to prepare myself for it. This time around, because I was prepared, it wasn’t as scary. I found that when it happens, if I try to wiggle my fingers and toes, it goes away, and I either fall back asleep fully or wake up.However, after my third child, the sleep paralysis continued for almost six months. I was already exhausted from getting up and nursing my baby, taking care of two kids, ushering the kids off to the school bus everyday, and eventually working full time forty hours a week.I would be like a zombie, with little to no sleep, and even more so when the episodes lasted several times in one night. I would forget my car keys, the diaper bag, my wallet – things I really needed. Until it finally ended, it was a nightmare.Even occasionally, now, since the worst of it ended, it still happens every now and again. Still sucks, but until I have another child, it’s only an occasional nuisance. I recommend to those suffering to try this technique of wiggling fingers and toes. For me, at least, it works.

Thanks for sharing your story Dana. Apologies it took so long to publish, we’ve been overwhelmed with the volume of stories people are submitting and have had trouble keeping up.
I am actually starting to see quite a few stories like yours, of mothers noting they first started experiencing sleep paralysis after pregnancy. I wonder if it is due to the extreme sleep deprivation that often comes with a newborn, biological factors from the pregnancy itself, or a combination. Sleep deprivation can definitely bring out sleep paralysis, since when we are sleep deprived we experience more REM sleep and SP is dependent on waking up (or falling asleep) during REM sleep. Since you have experienced it coming and going several times, do you have any thoughts on whether it was related to sleep deprivation or more than that?
I’ve had sleep paralysis since for ever. I read all the science of it and it not all science. It is smarter than we think. I found out the best way is to pray a least for a minute before bed. This always works. Don’t be lazy with your prayers.
Your sleep posture is making you vulnerable to nefarious entities!
What direction is your pillow/headboard of your bed facing?
I suspect you may be sleeping with the top of your head facing magnetic north or equally bad magnetic west. Magnetic north is called the “death position” because coffins are buried facing north and if you sleep north ghosts appear in your life, says the folklore.
The people of Bali say “sleeping magnetic west means you will have no love, everyone will hate you and you will experience violence” I paraphrased but Google search “Balinese sleep north”
Many cultures recommended that you sleep with the top of your head facing magnetic south and feet facing magnetic north. An alternate position is your head facing magnetic east and feet facing magnetic west. Use an electronic compass, it has to be exactly south, any deviation such as south west of south east makes you open to nefarious entities.
Never sleep with head facing magnetic north cuz you are guaranteed to see ghosts and have nightmares.
Also never ever sleep on your back. Sleeping on the back is the posture of the corpse in a coffin and “vastu” says sleeping on the back ruins the brain. Try to sleep on the left side of your body always to get wealthy. Sleep on the right side is ok but not best and monsters probably attacked you while you slept on the right side of your body of slept on your back. Sleeping on left side is best and you get rich wealthy. Never sleep on the stomach you suffocate, sudden infant death syndrome.
I recommend you read this website, it explains the significance of monsters in sleep. http://www.revelatorium.com/starrgram19.html
Also Google search “vastu sleep direction” and search also “sleep facing south” to get more information. Sleeping facing south makes you wealthy and healthy, sleeping east makes you intelligent but not wealthy so east is for children still attending school.
The information I wrote was for the northern hemisphere, I dont know about sleep position for the southern hemisphere of earth.
Also, what is your blood type? If you are blood type Rhesus Negative (Rh negative) then this website might be informative
