Question: My 8-year-old daughter has suffered with broken sleep for over a year. She goes off to sleep fine but wakes many times each night and sometimes it takes her quite a while to get back to sleep.
The result is that she is very tired when she gets up in the morning and sometimes finds it hard to concentrate at school. Her dad suffers with the same problem. We’ve tried a couple of different homeopathic remedies and whilst they have reduced the number of wakings they have not cured the problem. She says she doesn’t wake with nightmares or worries. Any ideas?Hi Judy,It sounds like you’ve thankfully had some success in alleviating your daughter’s sleep troubles with the actions you’ve already taken.Have you noticed any irregularities in your daughter’s breathing while she sleeps? In that case her broken sleep could be a result of sleep apnea, a disorder that involves the obstruction of airflow. This disruption of breathing often leads to fragmented sleep, as the afflicted wakes each time she cannot breathe.Hopefully between us and our visitors we can help you out. Thanks for sharing with us and please keep us updated if there are any changes with your daughter’s condition. Warmly,JordanEYSD Editor
