Question: I’ve been having sleep paralysis episodes for 2 years. They started when I was 15 years old. I would feel as if I couldn’t breathe, I saw my door opening and closing rapidly and I couldn’t scream for help like if some one was holding my throat.
I woke up terrified and told my mom in the morning . She said that she had the same experiences as me. I guess it is hereditary? Now I’m 17 and in those years I’ve had many episodes, sometimes multiple times per night.I just recently had an experience where it happened 3 times. I couldn’t scream out and when I tried to take a deep breath my throat wouldn’t open. I breath through my nose most of the time during these times because I know I cant breath. I felt like I was being held down. I hear a very loud ringing in my ear right before this happens and my eyes automatically shut no matter how hard I try to open them. Then after a few minutes I wake up shaking. And even though I know these happen I still get nervous to fall back asleep fearing that it’ll happen again .These episodes happen to me more than once a month. My mom said shell bring me to our GP to see what’s going on but I already know I have sleep paralysis.
