Question: My daughter is 7 years old. For the last 2 weeks she has been waking up with night terrors. She leaps up crying and sweating, teeth chattering and asking for help. It is very upsetting, most of the time she goes back to sleep rather quickly but other times she will keep waking up every 15 minutes or so.
I have stopped her from watching any TV or computer time 1 hour before bed. It worked for one night and then she still woke up with the sleep terror the next night. My pediatrician told me to give her 30C of Stramonium which has been impossible to find, but I have ordered it online and it should be here this week. When she was very young she did wake up from short naps sometimes confused and crying, but that hasn’t happened in many years, until 2 weeks ago. Any suggestions on what could be causing this?

My daughter used to do this a lot… when she woke up delirious and crying and inconsolable, she was always sweating and hot. What worked for us was only lightly covering her with a sheet when we put her to bed. Then a few hours later when we go to bed, I would then put on her quilt or whatever warmth she needed… and we haven’t had a problem since. I’m convinced that this was the key for her. Her body temp would escalate during first few hours of sleep and too much warmth was the problem.
My 6 year old also is going through the same thing for years. When we have a fan on him and keep his body temp down he seams to be fine. It’s when he is warm is when he wakes up.
