Question: I am 23 years old & have suffered from night terrors from a young age, but they have actually gotten worse as I’ve got older. Especially now, I experience a night terror at least once a week almost…especially if my partner stays the night. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
So my recent attacks have included standing at the top of my staircase screaming, where my scream woke me up thankfully because I almost fell! And also waking up through the night screaming my lungs out sweating and crying.Sometimes I can briefly remember having a nightmare or seeing something that I may have confused with a nightmare. For example, on a few occasions I’ve thought I’ve seen a scary face looking right at me so I’ve sat up screaming or sometimes I’ve felt like someone is literally squishing me or laying on top of me. Last night I also had a “sleep terror.” I woke up, sat up, started screaming, and I felt as though I was choking and I know this is gross but I was dry heaving and vomiting up phlegm. My heart was beating so fast and I had the sweats as I usually get when I wake up in a fright. But anyway I wish there was something I could do to stop all this before they start getting even worse and more frequent čÖü
