Question: Someone was painting a picture of all these Japanese samurai warriors in a temple inside a huge forbidden city. An old guy was sitting at the corner of a worn street, playing the lute, and there were a lot of people watching the painter work on his painting (I was one of the many among the crowd). All of a sudden, I think the painter started telling a story about the painting and then suddenly I became one of the warriors in the painting.
There were five groups of opposing warriors. And in the painting, we were shown inside a temple-like structure, that actually morphed into Cupertino Village, a shopping plaza near where I’m from. Each of the groups was trying to both ambush the others and stay hidden, so it was pretty tough. Each group also had their own store as their headquarters. I was in the fifth group and we had a tea store, which was pretty boring, so I went to visit group three that my friend was in, that had a much more interesting store. It was at night, so we were supposed to stay put. As soon as I got in the store, the fire alarm went off; turns out there was a fire on one of the sides of the temple/shopping complex. All the people in the store crowded up at the exit, but because I wasn’t supposed to be there, I slipped out and tried going back to my original group, but it was too dark to navigate. Finally, I found my group looking really somber wearing dark
robes. At this point, everyone was trying to get to the parking lot where they could do a headcount of the members of their group. Somehow though, fire kept sprouting up wherever my group went, so we had to keep rethinking our escape route. Nothing worked though, and it seemed like we would be trapped inside the fire. Suddenly I looked down and we were no longer wearing dark robes–we were back in our warrior outfits. Now the only way out was through an exit on the east. But as we neared, we saw that flames were licking the exit; there was no way out. The leader of our group though rushed toward the exit covered in flames, and it was then that we understood that we had to die. So we stormed over to the exit in one big line, with tears in our eyes. We were all going to die together and we wanted to do it heroically, with dignity. So we stepped into the flame…and this huge rock fell on our bodies and lifted up our souls, and i pumped my fist into the air, and my best friend was next to me, and then there were these words that flashed in the sky, I can’t exactly remember, but it was like, “the heroes of something something”. In the painting, at this moment it showed me and my friend trapped under that rock with flames all around us. Then I somehow switched viewpoints again and became the painter, explaining to everyone the beauty of the painting. Afterward, everyone left and I woke up.
