Question: Our 11 year old son appears to be a very light sleeper. When my husband goes in to check on him before we go to bed, he often says “Goodnight son” to which my son replies “Goodnight Dad”. Further conversations sometimes ensue – for example “Did you remember to turn the TV off?” “Yes Dad”, or “Did you have a good day today?” my son will answer sensibly.
Often if I go in and accidentally make a noise, he will sit up and start involving me in his dream, “Did you remember to get that update mom?” or “Quick, go down there to the room on the left, I’ll follow you in a minute.”We are wondering if this is because he is a very light sleeper or if he is completely asleep and his subconscious is responding for him.He rarely wakes up during these conversations. Occasionally he sleep walks, will get up and move around his room but can always be led back to bed and will go straight back to sleep when told to.Should we be concerned? Thanks
