Question: I’ve had this recurring dream of being underwater and this has appeared in many different forms on many nights. The following method in which it manifested itself is probably the most indicative of the type of emotion I feel when I have this dream:
I was lying on my back upon a cold, marble floor along with thousands of other people (I somehow knew it was thousands as I had a birds eye view as well as my own perspective). A loud announcer that was not visible but somehow all around us spoke in a soft deep voice and said, “Imagine true happiness. What is satisfaction? What would you like your life to be like?” I shut my eyes and began to think. My mind wandered and drifted, my soul rose up out of my body and imagination turned into reality. I was beneath the sea. The water was warm and clear. I could breath; I felt no hunger, no sadness, no pain, my limbs were effortlessly floating and I was gliding within the water as if I was flying through the air. I was alone. There was nothing I had to do, and there was nothing that I wanted to do. Suddenly, I was jolted back to “reality” by the announcer’s voice. His voice had become high and sharp, I felt the sweaty, dirty bodies of the thousands of people around me. My noise became filled with their stench. Immense sadness welled up within me. It was so strong that I woke up. I lay for a while in my bed facing the ceiling.
