Question: I sleep-talk some, and friends throughout my life have noted it, from about the time I was 9 years old. I have woken myself up twice screaming in distress from a dream, once when I was 12/13 and once very recently, while on vacation. However, more often, I speak aloud a thought that occurs to me during a dream. If there’s someone nearby, and that person speaks to me, I respond back, in full fluency, though after waking I remember nothing of the conversation.
Aside from “dreaming aloud” from time to time, I have been known to integrate noises around me into my dreams, and respond to people talking to me, as if I were perfectly awake, whilst remembering none of our interactions. This occurs outside of the context of a dream, typically, though sometimes while dreaming I hear such noises, and my mind puts them into the dream.Should I be worried?
I’ve found that things going on around us are almost always in our dreams. if you wake up to an alarm, often times it will be in your dream and is the last thing you hear before waking up. one time my sister dreamed that people were talking in her dream and woke up to find that my mom and I were talking. the fact that things going on outside of your dream are in your dream isn’t wierd at all and happens to just about everybody.
