Question: plz help me……my son is 14 years old…….and sine infancy, he takes hours to fall asleep……even the days when he says he is feeling sleepy, when he is exhausted physically, then too he takes 2-3 hours to fall asleep……this is affecting his health badly……as he does not look fresh and his concentration level is low each day……it is driving me to tears…. kindly help me help him fall asleep……each day it is the same story……he also has a history of obsessive thinking……his mind never seems to relax…..whether it is day or night……i have no idea what is wrong.
Kevin: I’m sorry to hear of your son’s trouble. It sounds like since his daytime function is being affected so dramatically that he would do well to see a sleep specialist, or a pediatrician who has a background in sleep. If you can at all get him to one I think that would be a great step. If you live in the United States you can search for the sleep centers nearest you using the American Academy of Sleep Medicine’s (AASM) tool.It may also be a beneficial and fun thing for him to have a look through our site.
