Question: Hi, my son is 19 months now, when he was a baby he used to go in his cot wide awake at 6.30 and fall asleep by himself and not wake till 7.30 – 8.00am but at 6 months of age he had bronchilitus and couldn’t breathe properly when lying on his back and since then he will not go in his cot away he will fall asleep downstairs with us at about 7.30
When he is in deep sleep i will put him in his cot but about 11-12 he will wake again after getting him off to sleep again he usually wakes screaming between 2.30 – 4.00am, and I mean violently screaming. throwing himself around, won’t let me touch him only way to settle him is by taking him downstairs and laying to sleep in the same place every time with a quilt. Even if i sit on a different place on the sofa he will still scream hysterically then about an hour he will fall back to sleep still crying.I have been to doctors they say he is too young for medication and health visitor just passed me on to sleep nurse which is saying to put him to bed awake, leave him screaming. I have tried this for weeks upon end and been sat all night going back and forth. It’s not working it is starting to take toll on me now and just wondering if anyone has been through the same or can give any information, not info like give him medised or whiskey or piriton as many people have told me. I have tried the piriton and no difference but there is no chance I am giving my baby alcohol not even a spoon full as I keep getting told. Thanks for reading and hope someone can suggest something.
