Question: I am a 58-year-old lady and my husband said that I was singing in my sleep last night. Since he can sleep through an air raid, it must have been pretty loud to have awaken him.
When I’m awake, I’m not the most melodious singer, so I can’t even imagine what I sounded like. I do remember singing in my dream. It was a really high-pitched song. I must have sounded like a sick cat, but fortunately I have a wonderful husband who loves me no matter what.About two months ago I stayed with my sister and she said I sang that night, too. She said I was singing something that sounded like “Merh Merh Merh.” Our little black pug sleeps with me and snores very loudly sometimes so I thought maybe she’d just heard my pug snoring. Unfortunately for me she recorded it on her phone so there was no denying it was me singing away. Those darn cell phones. You can’t get away with anything any more! One of my favorite episodes of “The Big Bang Theory” is when Penny sings the lullaby “Soft Kitty” to Sheldon and the last three words of the song are “purr, purr, purr” so maybe that’s what I was singing.

On two occasions I woke at night to my wife singing in her sleep and if I had wanted to wake up fully I would have recorded it on my cell phone too. I don’t think she believes me and I’ve googled it but I can’t find anything other than talking in your sleep. I wonder what it’s called and why?
I also sing in my sleep. My sister says I can carry on quite a tune, while being on pitch. The bad thing with this is I sing so loud sometimes I wake myself up. This happens many times while I first go to sleep.
My husband says that sometimes I hum in my sleep (he can’t make out the tune) only snatches of humming but not monotone. I seem quite happy and it doesn’t bother him thankfully.
