Question: My 10 year old daughter has always had trouble sleeping. It’s really bad right now and she can only fall asleep with melatonin. She starts crying and gets really anxious if she can’t get to sleep. She hates trying to sleep and it’s impossible to get her up in the mornings.
She is very emotional and angry most of the time. I am sure lack of sleep has much to do with her emotional state. How can I make going to sleep less stressful for her? I often help her go to sleep by telling her stories or rubbing her back, etc. She has ocean waves playing in the background that seem to help settle her, but it’s not enough and she can’t take melatonin for the rest of her life.
