Question: Sometimes my daughter, in the dead of night, (12:00- 2;00) will creep into my bedroom and wake me up saying: “Mom, I can’t sleep”.
I’ve tried letting her drink warm milk, and she’ll sleep for an hour or so, and then wake up. I’ve also tried to let her go biking before dinner for exercise in hope that she’ll get tired, but she seems hyper before I put her to bed. I’ve also cut down on dessert hoping that maybe without sugar she’ll sleep better and be less hyper, but it has no impact. She can wake up, sleep, wake up, and sleep, several times a night. And if we put her to bed at 9:00, she’ll come to my room at 11:00, saying she can’t sleep and/or saying: She thought of something creepy (even though I never let her watch scary movies or read scary books). She told me before that she can’t seem to “clear her head and relax”. What could I do?
