Question: I’m a 32 year old female. When I was a young child I slept talked and slept walked, and also would get out of bed and eat in my sleep. This occured as early as 2 years old according to my parents.
It continued into adolesence, but less walking and eating as I approached my teenage years, when I only talked in my sleep. I only have one recollection of sleep walking as an adult, and that was when I was in bootcamp for the Navy. I have always slept talked though. I have very vivid dreams every night and I can always remember them in the morning. When I sleep talk it is usually me speaking or answering someone in my dream. Normally I hear myself talking, and it wakes me up and I stop (I’m a light sleeper). In the last year it has gotten extremely worse. I had triplets a year ago, so I think that stress is the only thing I can think of that would make it all of the sudden become worse. I am also on medication for Post Partum Depression since they have been born. My husband reported me sleep walking as well on two occassions in the last year which I have no recollection of. But reportedly, I walked to the top of the stairs and stood there for 3 minutes. My sleep talking has gotten so severe that it is interfering severly with my husband’s sleep. I’m not sure at this point if I should seek medical help or not. From what I have read I am sure it is caused/worsened by my increased stress, and possibly my medications.Hi April,Thanks for sharing with us.
