Question: One week ago I experience a sleep paralysis, at first I thought it was a nightmare or it was pressure from my school work until I kept getting it often. I went online and your great website helped me through the past couples of days. Although I was scared at the hallucinations at first I now know there not real. But I am scared of telling my parents because they might think I’m going mad. So how do I break the news to them without thinking I’m going mad?
Answer: Thanks for writing in Adam. I’m thrilled you have been able to find some comfort in our site. What if you first taught your parents what you learned about sleep paralysis and then told them about your experience with it? What do you think?
Thanks for your question and good luck,
Kevin
I have the same problem. I tried telling my
Mom and she said it’s just cause I’m tired or I’m on the computer to much or the way I sit and crap like this. She still won’t believe and she thinks I just mean I’m sore. She says yeah she has trouble getting up too so what and doesn’t
Believe me.my dad at first didn’t believe me then he said he had that too and told my mom its not like that. The next day it didn’t happen so I told my dad and he said it’s probably cause I wasn’t on the computer. They all think I’m exaggerating and that I don’t have a disorder what do I do I can’t handle this terrible paralyzing feeling anymore.
Actually Im only 11 and I get the same ol’ sleep paralysis too I started having it when I was 3 years old! Isn’t that alittle familiar? I- I mean I try to tell my mom and dad and they think i’m just acting up or something! I tried to tell what happened in my sleep and they know im lieing because I keep talking about it…. And even my brother had this disease! And guess what! Whatever he says they believe! I said that I had the same problem! But that didn’t budge in they smiled and laughed at me and said that I was lieing again! This isn’t fair!!!!!!!! I always had it for days and days and days and still! days! maybe even 99999 years!! I’m a lot furious because of my parents Non-belief! I don’t have any choice but to tell my doctor about all of this nonsence! I believe that I had it… And How I know? Well look I say that when I go to sleep and then an hour later I see this blurry texture and then I couldn’t move! I couldn’t say anything I could not do anything in my paralysis! PLEASE help me alittle how do I tell my doctor about this?
