Question: It is a Christmas scene. The house has a gloves and cinnamon aroma, Christmas paper, scotch tape and unwrapped gifts lie on the floor while a blinking tree is in the background. I decided to stretch out on the couch to watch the Cowboys game while my husband was playing golf (I knew he would like to hear some of the plays from a “non-official)…
I began to doze off during a commercial. I awoke (knowing the responsibilities I needed to get done) yet I could not move. I KNEW I COULD NOT MOVE. My mind raced trying to tell my body to throw a leg on the florr, thrust my body upward…BUT I WAS “TRAPPED” WITHIN THIS BODY. I tried to imagine “needing” to arise for an emergency, even bizzare thoughts of a stranger in my home and having to defend myself…yet, I could not budge. What seemed like an eternity—-I struggled to control my body over my “frozen” mind…I woke up, had a cup a coffee and read the Sunday paper along side my husband. I graded a few papers to return to my students after the holidays. I had a chicken salad sandwich and cup of soup for lunch and proceeded with a festive day of wrapping gifts….This was one event in the day that was “not planned”….and so? Why am I writing this? Because once this happened, this is the web site I found to “share” such an occurence…WOW!
