Question: I guess what you could call Isolated Sleep Paralysis started a few years ago. The first time it happened was in the morning. I had gotten my daughter on the school bus and I went back home and went to bed. I was alone in the house, which made it all the more scarier. I was coming out of sleep, when I found myself unable to move or speak. It was terrifying and I didn’t know what was happening. I was convinced that something, some ghost or demon was coming up the stairs to get me. Although I couldn’t see it, I felt it by me and was certain it was sitting on the bed next to me. Finally, when I was able to move I was so freaked out that I just paced around the house not even thinking to look it up online. I’ve had about a handful occurrences since then, but the strangest one happened last night.
My 20 month old son usually co-sleeps with me. I had just bought a new comforter and bed set over the weekend and he didn’t like it – so much that after waking up at 2 in the morning, he wouldn’t go back to sleep. After falling in and out of sleep because he kept kicking me or just moving around in general, I was so dang tired that I couldn’t take it anymore. I went and got the old pillow he used to sleep with hoping he would go back to sleep. Around 4 am he finally conked out. I was relieved. However, when I was drifting into sleep, an episode of sleep paralysis hit me. I knew what it was, but this time it was a little more weird. First, let me tell you that when I was 13, I woke up at 5:35 in the morning feeling being drawn to the window. I was awake….wide awake, no sleep disorder going on or anything. I was stunned at what I saw. In front of me in our yard was a UFO. Now, you can either believe me or not,
but I know what I saw. It was hovering above the houses glowing green. I ran to get my dad who was convinced I was dreaming. Finally, when I got him out of bed, I was able to drag him to my room. Just then did I see it fly into the night sky. I was devastated he did not see it. I’m now 27 years old and for some reason, I think they’re coming back for me. Why else would they choose to come to my yard and draw ME to the window. Sounds crazy, huh? It does to me too. But I can’t help what I saw or how I feel. It’s probably paranoia, but who really knows. So this is why I figure what happened.I imagined noises coming from outside my window, and although I never saw an alien, I believe I was being abducted, or getting ready to be abducted. I felt that at any moment I was going to start floating and would never return home to see my kids or fiancé again. When my body figured out I was awake, I couldn’t tell reality from dreaming and wasn’t quite sure if it happened or not – since I have a paranoia of this happening in real life. I fell back asleep and when I was waking it happened again. Only this time did I see myself walking out into the living room. My fiancé and I were sitting on the couch looking out the window into the night sky. We were looking at something that resembles the northern lights. Lots of bright, vivid flashes of all colors. It was actually quite stunning. I then heard a knock at the door. It was a woman with 4 boys in whom my fiancé said we’d babysit for until school time. I was livid. I remembered I did not want to babysit these strangers, I wanted to go back to bed! One way or another I woke up and stayed up for the rest of the night. I need to learn how to relax and just let it pass.
