Question: Actually, I’ve only gotten 4 hours of sleep average daily for the last three weeks. Just two hours last night, and my mind is bouncing off the wall with energy. I feel like I have endless mental energy that needs to be expelled through writing, playing music, talking with myself, running, or abosorbing even more information through reading.
I’ve been coming up with brilliant ideas and connections and actually feel motivated to pay attention in class. My attention span is too hyperfocused, in fact, and I have to fidget or look away and concentrate on another thought if there are any pauses in the professors lecture for even a minute second, otherwise my attention is entirely all on the professor. Before these three weeks, I was getting too much sleep everyday, around 8-10 hours daily, and felt lethargic, unmotivated and depressed. More better said, I was depressed so I slept too much. Do you have any ideas as to what is going on with me? Because I don’t fit the description above.

I have the same problem, but I’ve gotten around a 4 hour average sleep every night for about 2 months now. I’m just incapable of falling asleep earlier and waking up later due to class. I had the same feeling as you but now it’s starting to change. I’ll feel hyperactive when I’m at school or out but as soon as I get home I’m not tired but drained out of energy, I don’t feel like doing anything, but I still can’t fall asleep. If I feel I have nothing to do or there’s nothing important I have to take care of then I’ll fall asleep early without realizing until the next morning. Last night I had 13 hours of sleep. But if the subtlest thing is on my mind e.g. laundry or a test then I’m not able to fall asleep until I crash at 2-3 am. I don’t really have advice for you except to try and get 6-8 hours of sleep(it makes a difference) and you it will even out your sleeping patterns so you don’t end up wasting half the day sleeping and it’s healthier. Just know that your not alone.
You really need to see a doctor ASAP. Has this been going on , this cycling, for a while now? Your symptoms sound like bi-polar. Maybe a mild case, but please talk to a doctor.
I’m an artist in art school, and I find everyone (including me) become so much hyperactive near the assessment time. HAHA
Im at assessment, also art student (no im not high on drugs)feeling super hypo tho but also my forehead feels like there is more pressure like tense muscles, IT FEELS SO UNNATURAL D:
Oh, so I’m not the only one. Lately it’s been 1-3 hours for the past 2 weeks. I’m scheduled for counseling sessions in about 3 weeks. My focus drops at times and the only time I can work without issues if I do homework is at night or if I play music while I work. Physically, besides headaches and the feeling of tiredness, I feel fine. I can’t really feel pain that much; which I’m glad, I’m recovering from a wound anyway. Mentally, I’ll break out crying if frustration levels get too high, but lately in school and life everything’s been relatively easy. At first, I couldn’t think, but now I can again. Grades are solid A’s, through AP classes–or will be anyway. Although, I feel strange at times; like my crystal clear memory of long-term memories is gone. I remember school and logic based things, but I don’t feel connected to familial memories or memories of friends/things I used to like.
