Question: I am 34 years old. I can remember staying up until the 2am-3am time period when I was 11-years-old. My parents tried to get me to sleep, but I’d pretend to fall asleep then play with my legos in my closet with my flashlight until I was tired.
I am fine with my sleep cycle, except for days I have to work “normal” hours. Typically, my workday starts at 2pm-10pm so it’s not a problem, but the 10am workdays are a bear. Frankly, I don’t see an end to my DSPS. I have been living with it so long I can’t imagine having a normal sleep cycle. The other strange thing is that I get more alert, creative and productive as my day progresses. Some people spring out of bed when they wake up. My wake-up period is about an hour to two hours. Then I continue to burn brighter and brighter as the day progresses until I finally burn out at 4am…or in tonight’s case…4:45 am right now. Sucks when I have to work 10am-10pm tomorrow/today.
