Question: I remember having night terrors randomly throughout my life. Now, at 36 years old, I would think that I would have grown out of my fear of sleeping because of my night terrors. They are becoming more frequent and more vivid which has escalated my outbursts during my terrors. I have actually clawed at my husband’s face while we both slept and what my husband describes as me fighting an invisible person.
I scream, sometimes he can make out what I am saying but most of the time, he cannot. I don’t remember all of my night terrors, I seem not to remember the night terrors in which I am especially physical. The recollection that I do have is that my night terrors are never the same. Sometimes, they are very dream-like and other times, they seem very real as in it takes place in my bedroom, a familiar territory. I log about 15-25 hours of sleep in a week. I do not nap…which I know contributes to my night terrors.(sigh)
